Intensive Measurement Periods (IMPs) on VOCs in 2022 and 2024

In July 2022, one week of intensive measurements of various VOCs (NMHCs, O-VOC, terpenes) and biogenic aerosol tracers was conducted during a heatwave (July 12-19). The goal was to assess the role of different ozone and aerosol precursors during heatwaves. Preliminary results were presented at the 24th annual TFMM meeting and in Chapter 6 the EMEP status report 2023.

In September 2024, around 40 sites with high-resolution VOC, O₃, and NOₓ monitors conducted continuous measurements for at least three weeks. The aim was to better understand VOC emissions, including their temporal variations and speciation. High-resolution measurements were prioritized near emission sources, with additional manual sampling at some sites for detailed source fingerprinting. This IMP is a collaboration with ACTRIS and RI-URBANS, and initial findings will be presented at the 26th TFMM in 2025.
